Biography

Kiwoba Allaire is an award-winning tech leader, inclusion advocate, CEO and Founder of Girl STEM Stars, a nonprofit that advances girls of color from underserved communities in STEM.

The organization offers dynamic, hands-on programs fostering a new understanding of and excitement for STEM within girls between the ages of 8 and 18 from the Bay Area of California, to Africa, and even Malaysia.

Since its inception in 2013, Girl STEM Stars has partnered with companies like: NASA, Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and more to equip young women with the tools, space and access they need to explore STEM classes, connect with prominent community and global leaders, and attend virtual tech worksite field trips.

At the end of their experience, girls walk away with the self-confidence and ambition to pursue careers in tech.

Kiwoba is also a motivational speaker with an inspiring personal story of triumph and perseverance, which eventually led to the founding of Girl STEM STARS. Her keynote topics span a variety of areas, including: faith and miracles, leadership, tech inclusion, Black women in tech, nonprofits, entrepreneurship, diversity and inclusion, and STEM education for girls.

Among her many accolades, she has been named among the top 50 Multicultural Leaders in Technology by the California Diversity Council, a Woman Worth Watching by Profiles in Diversity Journal, San Francisco Business Times’ Most Influential Woman, Forever Influential Woman and Silicon Valley Business Times’ Most Influential Woman. Allaire is also the recipient of the Sistahs Rock Beyond the Limits Award.

Kiwoba proudly serves as an executive board member for a number of community-focused organizations including: the United Way, Sheriff’s Activities League, The Family Network, and Ronnie Lott’s All Stars Helping Kids.

When she’s not working to break down the barriers for girls and women in tech, she’s a food enthusiast who enjoys learning Cantonese, fishing, camping, paragliding, Tai Chi, photography, volleyball, the symphony, wakeboarding, and serving as a crime watch captain for her neighborhood.

Kiwoba is a proud mother to one son and devoted wife to her husband Patrick, with whom she shares a home in California.
